Robin Hood never took from the rich...

Robin Hood gave to the poor what was rightfully theirs. The central idea of the Robin Hood stories was that a corrupt bureaucrat overtaxed the people in the absence of their rightful ruler. It was in response to unjust seizure of property that Robin Hood acted; rescuing stolen money from the ruling class' corrupt grip.

An overtaxed people is an oppressed people.
